You know what’s one thing I’ve always just completely refused to make use of in #Excel for some reason? Array formulas. I just used a dead simple array formula in Google #Sheets to solve a problem, that could otherwise have been untold hours of fumbling around with Apps Script. I think I should maybe spend a bit of time getting comfortable with the Excel version.

I mean, I have no problem working around whatever my weird aversion to them is in Excel, while for some things, in Google Sheets, the alternative is Apps Script*, but while I personally like to roast marshmallows on the kind of hellfire that only a gloriously complicated spreadsheet with as close to zero helper columns as possible can provide, I’ve also learned to temper my masochism when practicality is called for, and build things that can actually be maintained, upgraded, and well, understood lol. I can think of at least several (and at most, countless) past instances where array formulas would have really simplied one of my [glorious, stunning, ill-advised] horror shows.

*which sounds amazing, until it isn’t, and it’s 6 hours later and you’re finding workarounds to un[/mis-]documented behaviour (FilterCriteriaBuilder can go straight to hell)

I'm 🤬 years old and I just now learned how to use ARRAYFORMULA() in Google Sheets and I'm simultaneously excited for the future and saddened about all those old spreadsheets that could have been so much more elegant if only I had known then what I know now.
