As we all catch our breath from the fantastic event that was #AoIR2023, you are invited to browse the special issue drawing from work presented at #AoIR2022 in Dublin, where the conference theme was “Decolonising the internet”.

We are extremely grateful to our Guest Editors—Andrew Illiadis, Eugenia Siapera, and Tetanya Lokot —for their hard work in bringing this special issue together, and thank IC&S for their ongoing support and partnership.

Great to see this out; thanks for your editorial work @andrewiliadis , @eugeniasiapera & @tanyalokot, and congratulations to all the authors involved, too, this is a compelling #AoIR2022 @AoIR special issue!

Do not miss this #AoIR2022 special issue. I am part of it with a paper on the unhomed data subject—the idea that, as multiple datafied systems affiliate us, we are left without a place to stand.

With special thanks to @andrewiliadis, @eugeniasiapera, and @tanyalokot for their fantastic guest editing.

I started packing earlier this week for Philadelphia and #AoIR2023. I also attended #AoIR2022 last year in Dublin. Previous I attended #AoIR2017 in Tartu and #IR14 in Denver. I have one carry on and will need to do laundry as I plan for a ten day trip. Flying in through Toronto and out via Newark.

At this intersection, we bring forward the notion of the unhomed data subject, arguing that "The metaphor of unhomeliness emphasizes the fragmenting, uneven, ongoing, and contradictory processes that constitute the contemporary data subject."

Let me know if you have comments or questions. And many thanks to Dr. Andrew Iliadis for editing this special issue, born out of my participation last year at #AoIR2022

Reminder: #AoIR (Association of Internet Researchers) Executive Committee Nominations open 11 March. There was real interest in (re)shaping the organisation at #AoIR2022, which will likely carry to #AoIR2023; the most direct way to shape AoIR is stepping up to a leadership role! Details: http://listserv.aoir.org/pipermail/air-l-aoir.org/2023-February/045365.html

I, as well as the current serving Exec, are all happy to chat about what our experiences of the various roles we currently occupy.

@ysabel I just hung my #AoIR2022 one in my office the other day and smiled the dumbest smile.
Feels poetic that the new laptop that just arrived to replace to one stolen en route to #aoir2022 now has the sticker I received at the conf. I'm actually very proud that I never let it bring my spirits down whilst in Dublin. Closure 😌💞
