The December #GNU Spotlight by Amin Bandali is now available! Read it here: https://www.fsf.org/blogs/community/2026-december-gnu-spotlight #FSF #GNUPG #a2ps
There is a simple solution: Get the a2ps-4.14 source code. On #openbsd 7.4 for the compilation to succeed do pkg_add gperf first.
Then read README 😉. I ran ./configure --prefix ="$HOME", make install and copied files psset and fixps (both shell scripts) from ~/bin to /usr/local/bin/
Done
#apsfilter #a2ps #lpr
#apsfilter on #OpenBSD 7.4 with a printer on wifi fails: "...Please install psset..". Psset came with #a2ps and has been removed in the latest a2ps-4.15: https://savannah.gnu.org/news/?id=10320 . A support request has been filed: https://savannah.gnu.org/support/index.php?110900
My workaround for now is printing files via "gs ...| nc -v -w 1 printer.IP 9100" without spooling. Does perhaps someone have a more elegant solution except cups?
