Cities say they're doing just fine, but we've already tried local control and now we're 100k homes short.
Read more about what #YesToHomes and our #MNleg champions Rep. Mike Howard and Sen. Lindsey Port want to build more homes in today's Star Tribune.
Minnesota faces a 100,000 home deficit, leaving some without a stable, affordable place to live. Thank you for being part of the thousands of Minnesotans and dozens of organizations who have spoken up to say “Yes to Homes” this year along with our bipartisan legislative champions. Together we introduced and advanced pro-homes bills to allow more homes to be built in more places across the state, in a variety of styles, at lower costs. Unfortunately, we still face opposition by some legislators, local elected leaders, and multi-city associations. At this point, there does not appear to be a path forward on the full set of policies we hoped to pass - that will be a multi year fight. That said, we can still make important progress this year with your help. The MN Senate is scheduled to vote on some pieces of our Yes to Homes bills in a hearing on Thursday 5/1 after they finish Floor Session. Exact timing is hard to predict but we encourage people to join us from 3-5pm and meet outside the Senate Chambers. We want to make it clear to our legislators how important these bills are to our community. RSVP so we can give last-minute updates, if needed!
Join us today at the state capitol from 3-5pm as #MNleg considers #SF2229
