The last time I played PBeM, I think it was in 2004/2005. It was already an upgraded version, through #YahooGroups. My first PBeM was via #eGroups (before #YahooClubs acquired it and merged as YGroups).
If I remember correctly, before the Internet, it was played through postal mail. I did not experience it, though I have the same question: anyone still playing #PBM #PlayByMail?

What are people using for email #listserv hosting these days? #YahooGroups is shutting down, and one group I am in is looking for alternatives.
I am not looking at hosting anything myself, because I already have too much going on.
