So, this last week or so I've been just loving this new album of symphonic music, Dalia's Mixtape.

I highly recommend it to anyone looking for some new favorite classical music, or a new conductor to follow. Especially if you're looking for modern works that don't quite lean so heavily into the "Music is just organized sound" philosophy. The composers seem less interested in testing the limits of what kind of noises the instruments can make and more into exploring the possibilities in melody/harmony/form etc.

Also, something like 7 of the 10 pieces on it were written by women, and while it does lean pretty heavily European, she does include works by Julius Eastman and Noriko Koide.
