Reading Michel #Winock’s excellent « Gouverner la France ». Really struggle to get my head round the idea that Adolphe #Thiers is so venerated in France. Every town and city has an Ave. de Thiers, Place de Thiers, Parking Thiers. He attacked without warning the scarcely formulated #Communards whose number codified the values of the embryonic 3rd Republic, whilst Thiers was deeply symbolic of the crushed 2nd #Empire. 1st President of 3rd Republic. Nice work if you can get it. #History
