House Post
Carved in commemoration of Wicaninish II, father of Shi-yus. Wicaninish II found a hei-i-tlik, a supernatural animal, in a mountain. He killed this animal and skinned it; when out whaling, he brought along the skin in a locked box. The pole shows #WicaninishII with the skin of the mythical animal. One of a set of seven posts (87326-87332) carved by Shi-yus, chief of the Clayoquot c. 1890. #Nootkan (Clayoquot). 87328
