It’s Meg the whippet’s FOURTEENTH birthday today. She’s been in our household with her step-daddies since she was a few weeks old. She’s frailer now, her long front legs not as strong as they were - climbing steps are a problem. But she’s happy in bed, lying in the sun, especially.

It’s great to see our elderly whippet Meg bouncing back after a nasty viral gastroenteritis illness. She’s weaker than before, especially getting up steps and stairs. But she’s eating & drinking normally,. She’s been our companion since she was just a few weeks old, so it’s good to have her a few more weeks/months longer.

Dear Meg, our elderly whippet (13 ½) is quite poorly, having picked up a nasty virus last week that’s playing havoc with her digestive system. We’re trying to nurse her ourselves now after one night’s hospitalisation, which cost around £300 per night. But getting up during the night several times for toilet trips isn’t good for our health either. There’s going to be a reckoning soon…. whether to let her go 😢
