"It has often been said that J.R.R. Tolkien wanted to make a "mythology for England," but echoes of Middle-earth can be found among the monuments, mounds, and muddy rivers of the American Midwest."

Farewell #Westmoot! It was such an amazing adventure. But now it’s time for “… and back again.”

Yesterday at #westmoot I gave a talk on finding echoes of Middle-earth here among the mounds, muddy rivers, and monuments of the American Midwest. I’m mostly happy with how it went. Still amazed to have had the chance to present something at a Tolkien Society event.

Ready for Day 2 of #westmoot25! I'll be giving my first (public) Tolkien-related talk, and I'm very excited to share it. Come check it out at 2 p.m. today!

If you're at #westmoot25 in KC, come check out my talk Saturday at 2 p.m. It's a personal take on finding echoes of Middle-earth right here among the monuments, mounds, and muddy rivers of the American Midwest.

Everyone who knows me will attest that I *love* to talk about Tolkien and Middle-earth (and can do so at length).

I'm still pinching myself that I've been given a chance to present at the first-ever #Westmoot. My talk will be titled "Reflections on Middle-earth from a Middle American."

My daughter and I will be heading to KC on Thursday. If any of you fine folks will also be there, please let me know! We'd love to see you.
