Almost gave up half way thru the pilot episode because the main character Liv (played by Celeste Barber) is such a self-absorbed twat. Nonetheless, I persisted, and ended up enjoying the rest of season.

Praise the powers, people: The humour is not relentless and there is no canned laughter. Nor is the humour all slapstick or crude comebacks, as the trailer suggests … and there are moments of self-reflection as Liv’s hard shell gradually cracks open.

As a bonus, there is a nice performance from Yael Stone in episode 6.
