A worker is irrigating corn fields in Bakersfield CA using a traditional method pumpingvgroundwater into poly pipes and running the water down the rows of corn using gravity. This method is heavily dependent on the slope of the field and the type of soil. It was 102°. #WeFeedYou
The rainier cherry harvest has begun in WA. This cherry is very delicate. Workers must be careful not to bruise it. They earn $10 per 25 lb bucket. In this very short one month season a very fast picker can make 40 buckets in a 8 hr day. But most workers pick much less. #WeFeedYou
The start of the day in the Central Coast raspberry harvest for workers like "Maria". "It’s cool in the morning but as the day gets warm it can be really hot. By noon when the sun is overhead, it's 10° hotter under the plastic tunnel, then it is outside." #WeFeedYou
"Adan" sent this from where they were harvesting bell peppers in Bakersfield CA. "We need to crouch or be bent over all day long. Also we must be careful as it's a fragile plant so we have to manually cut each pepper. On top of this, it is very hot outside." #WeFeedYou
"Julia" is harvesting WA cherries. "It's slow, but I'm looking forward to when peak season hits in July. We'll have a 6-7 week window that if we work fast we could save money. We earn $4/20-25lb bucket. Ivmake 30 buckets/day now but in peak season sometimes I make 70. #WeFeedYou
"Julia" shares, "The temperature is 84°. To protect ourselves from the sun and heat, we wear loose-fitting clothing and caps. It’s just me and my coworker in this field today, so we try to look out for one another. The shade is all the way at the other end." #WeFeedYou
