🇹🇼 I stand in awe of the health experts from #Taiwan, who have traveled to Geneva for a 10th straight year for the World Health Assembly #WHA79 — only to be barred from participating at China’s urging.
The WHO’s decision to acquiesce to political pressure directly undermines the trust needed to carry out its mission. It also robs the Assembly of Taiwan’s invaluable input.
I applaud the countries, particularly Palau and Paraguay, who supported Taiwan at the WHA. I will continue to stand by my Taiwanese colleagues and advocate their inclusion. I hope many others will do the same.
Views my own.
