I was thinking about the Vimes thing (how the poor have to spend in the short term while the rich can invest in longer lasting products) and how it relates to Apple.
If you're at Asus or whatever and someone proposes making all their laptops out of aluminium, they get laughed out of the room. If you're at Apple Tim Cook just hands you $100,000,000 and says "good idea, call the big aluminium guys, tell them it has to be green, oh and invent a whole new kind of factory too".
