At this year’s edition of What Design Can Do in Amsterdam, Yasmine Ostendorf-Rodríguez invites you to explore a more symbiotic way of being—drawing from the interconnected, resilient, and collaborative intelligence of fungi.

Her workshop, based on the book 'Let’s Become Funga'l, is a call to move beyond extractive mindsets and towards collective care, kinship, and humility. The session will delve into how artistic and cultural practices can take inspiration from fungal behaviours to reimagine our roles as designers, citizens, and earth-dwellers.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us for an evening full of sketches, stories, and subversion at Het Nieuwe Instituut!

Together with Max Bruinsma, Renate Boere, Giang Nguyen, we celebrated the Valiz title 'Gert Dumbar, Gentleman Maverick of Dutch Design'—a book that captures the irreverent genius of one of the most influential figures in Dutch visual culture.

From archival deep-dives to reflections on book design as a tool for change, the evening offered a layered look at why making books still matters (a lot).

Missed it? The book, made in close collaboration with Gert Dumbar and Leonie ten Duis, is available via Valiz and selected bookstores.
