"Bitter Sweet Symphony" is a song by the English rock band #theVerve, released on 16 June 1997 by #HutRecordings and #VirginRecords as the lead single from their third album, #UrbanHymns. It was produced by #Youth at #OlympicStudios, London. The Verve developed "Bitter Sweet Symphony" from a #sample from a 1965 version of the #RollingStones song "#TheLastTime" by #theAndrewOldhamOrchestra, adding vocals, strings, guitar and percussion.

My kids one year for my birthday gave me this CD; I’ve never forgotten that and in 2004 made sure this one made it into the rotation of the pirate radio station my public affairs unit had that would broadcast from what was Saddam Hussein’s palace in Mosul, Iraq.
