#NowPop40 meets #Uncool50's Eleven Points.
Through all their incarnations, the Sugababes were pop gold. For me, this is their crowning moment of awesome, written by Cathy Dennis but Dr Luke.
For the video, the girl gang spend an evening on the South Bank, while some fit bloke makes a beeline for them.
For the song, it's fizz and crackle and buzz and tension and intensity, and it all resolves in the most glorious keychange of joy.
The #NowPop40 #Uncool50 section begins with *the* greatest emo ballad of all time.
Ednaswap wrote the song, they were a post-grunge band who found a home in tired/regretful/annoyed songs from the heart. Basically, emo before anyone had invented emo.
In the video, #NatalieImbruglia holds it together while living the lyric, all while filming the video. It's all very meta-textual.
The song still sounds fresh and vital.

In all seriousness, I considered "We all stand together" for #Uncool50 last year. #PaulMcCartney was inerrant in '84.
So was #GeorgeMichael and Wham!, In retrospect, "Everything she wants" could be a rough sketch of the themes George would reach on "Listen Without Prejudice".
#BandAid you know, and they play the rarer "soft drink can" video, not the one in usual rotation.
"Step off" gets #GrandmasterFlash into the studio next week...
#Uncool50 isn't the only massive music poll. Dutch radio station NPO Radio 2 runs an annual list of the most popular songs of all time ever. I've been dipping in for the last few days, it's always an enjoyable and completely random selection.

So, 50 days ago a chap invited the Twitterati to share their top 50 singles in chronological order since punk/disco (inspired by Garry Mulholland’s wonderful This Is Uncool book).
Listening to my choices on shuffle is an odd experience: songs that mean so much to past and present me rubbing shoulders, taking on new significance, the over-familiar sounding fresh again.

An unknown band release their one single. The song sells to their fan base and nobody else.
But they've already got one DJ fired from #Kerrang Radio, and shown how 21st century fans are not your traditional metalheads.
