Piu Piu Digital IllustrationThis digital illustration is one of mine pieces selection for the upcoming Lürzer’s Archive 200 Best Digital Artists 2024/2025. It is the number two of a series called Rio 400 degrees.
I came up with the idea for this illustration during my winter holiday, just before heading to Brussels where I was showcasing a few fine art prints of my digital artwork.
On a freezing night, I posted, “Just so you know, I am chilling my beer on the balcony.” In response, a friend from Rio replied, “Just so you know, I am boiling noodles on the balcony.”
This exchange reminded me of a song called “Rio 40 Degrees” by Fernanda Abreu, which captures the essence of Rio’s summer heat. As temperatures keep rising each year, I created an allegory depicting a much hotter Rio, where a summer rain transforms into a downpour of fire.
The digital illustration I created illustrates how it feels at the height of summer when not even rain can provide relief. It serves as a metaphor for climate change.
