In the last couple of days, fear and uncertainty have flooded social media, targeting LGBTQ+ folks—especially transgender individuals. It’s understandable to feel anxious or even hopeless right now. But it’s crucial to remember that narratives of despair only deepen isolation and mistrust.

We’ve fought hard for the progress we’ve made, and we can’t let those who wish to silence us succeed by driving us to give up. Now is the time for resilience, for sharing our stories, and for standing together.

When we amplify our voices and highlight our shared humanity, we cut through the noise and foster a more inclusive, supportive space for all. Let’s stand together—uplift each other—and keep pushing for the justice and equality we deserve. Our strength is in our unity, our courage, and our commitment to each other.

new words press Submission Manager

new words is a trans and gender expansive poetry and hybrid journal, but that doesn’t mean work must be related to those topics. We publish work from emerging and established trans poets. We love polished work that makes us stop mid-poem to catch our breath and relish words; words that surprise us and feel like they were agonized over; words that make us catch fire. Besides more traditional form of poetry (which we welcome), nw{p} is a place for experimentation and hybrid process– work that mainstream journals won’t publish. Ultimately we want nw{p} to reside in the spectrum of life. We accept submissions year round. We never charge a reading fee. Expect 1-2 months for a response. Payment is two copies and a year subscription.

Today is #TransgenderDayOfRemembrance (#TDOR) ending #TransAwarenessWeek & we remember those lost in 327 reported murders & far more unreported. We remember violence against trans people by Qatar police & other repressive regimes.
