The budget delivered by Sunak when he was Chancellor in March set us up for the worst year for real household disposable incomes since records began.
Now that Sunak is Prime Minister, his Chancellor has upped it to the TWO worst years EVER!
Honestly, there was some good in that #AutumnStatement, but it was significantly outweighed by a lot of absolute twaddle, revisionism, catchphrases, denialism, gaslighting and vague promises being made for 2025, when Tories will be long gone.
I know the bar has been lowered a lot by the Tories, but the size of that cheer at keeping a manifesto pledge of the triple lock on pensions is quite something.
I guess it is the only manifesto pledge they haven’t broken yet, although it was threatened 8 weeks ago.
Jeremy Hunt is now trying to sell a 7% cap on INCREASES in social rent as a saving for renters 🤦♂️.
