A superb owl indeed.

#ThursdayWIP Using this hashtag for its original intention: Posting the thing I am working on, if only to get me to actually look at it for a few minutes and start thinking about where to go next.
And then play games for the rest of the day.

(The reference doesn't have any strong directional sunlight, and I think that might be throwing me off a fair bit with this one. Might just try and use it to experiment with interesting textures and abstractions, I dunno.)

#ThursdayWIP I think this is has got to the finishing touches stage, which was surprisingly quick tbh.
Or I might open it next time and find a load more I need to do to it.
Yeah, probably that.

I am returning to this portrait of my cat Carrey today, and this time I captured myself redrawing the sketch from scratch so I get the whole process in the final time lapse video. Sneak preview below!
I think it's actually a better likeness than before, though still a couple of things to tweak before I start painting.

#ThursdayWIP this week is not so much a WIP, more me calling it done with this snow study. I think the trees turned out pretty well after all!
Short time lapse for those interested. I plan to put this and a few others I've done recently together as a longer video very soon.

Some snowy mountains that I've yet to put trees on. Might not, dunno yet.
Based on my own photo.

My first post to this hashtag, intended as a way to get me arting and talking about it.
This week, I embarked on a long planned project to paint a portrait of my cat, Carrey.
What's been holding me back, I think, is the pressure I put on myself to record everything I do these days, and the fact that I've not painted a pet portrait in so long.
So here I've done a trial run, so to speak - not recorded, just an attempt to study her and come up with a method to get a good likeness.
