I quite enjoyed last night's Dr Who. It would be reasonable to think of Gaiman's Gods and this but it presumes an ownership of Anansi which he wouldn't claim.

Closer is Mike Carey's The Unwritten series, in particular the Leviathan of stories compared to the Story Engine.
