Deep Listening Day #84 — The Blasters (1981). during college, musically I was looking both forward + backward. my interests were primarily underground non-mainstream rock. I was also digging old soul, R&B and Rock & Roll. The Blasters satisfied both interests.

I'll be honest, this is the only thing I ever heard by The Blasters, or Dave Alvin, that I have ever liked. Most of their stuff is roots rockabilly stuff that does nothing for me. But they did this one perfect gem of a pop song. (And just tonight I _finally_ figured out that one line in the chorus--it's "Little girl can we/Dance tonight")

The video doesn't do much for me either. Could use more coloured lights. It almost has a tiny mini-plot, but...not quite. Oh, well.
