I hate to be #ThatPerson but this sentence just dropped me out of the #urbanfantasy I'm reading. I'm having difficulty navigating the colorful panoply of Scottish profanities; then they have a character say 'suckling wean'.

I thought once weaned you're no longer suckling.

So that bugs me. But the author made that choice and an editor allowed it to reach publication.

Or is this all the result of my not having a proper Scots person do the Scottish-to-the-rest-of-you-plonkers translation?
