Half the accounts pushing #gaza are social amplification #bots
I find this concerning on a number of levels:
1. I get a follow from what is obviously a bot account (sometimes several) posting pro-Palestinian bios whenever I post or comment in a way that punches-up hard.
2. Several countries are making it illegal to protest what is obviously a genocide of the Palestinian people.
3. Frequently these accounts are soliciting money. In its self this is not a bad thing. However when combined with (2) above this would/could leave someone exposed to being labeled as abetting terrorists.
3. The #fediverse is a social media ecosystem that consciously eschews the sort of bot amplification methods used on other social media platforms. This decision is a deliberate attempt to un-skew an otherwise rigged system.
4. Weaponizing the #GazaGenocide to destroy a social media platform for not being owned (controlled) by #techbros... That's fucking evil.
