Levy, who spent his entire career at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA, USA, as a physician and researcher, urged the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to ban such use of antibiotics. The FDA initially agreed, triggering a fierce reaction from the US agriculture and pharmaceutical industries that refused to accept the findings.
