"If you're not wrong half the time, you're not being brave enough" --- Ford Doolittle

#FordDoolittle quoted by #DavidQuammen in The #TangledTreeOfLife , the inosculation examples are interesting too.

“Our results illustrate the spread of antibiotic-resistant organisms from chicken to chicken and from chicken to man.” With those words, Stuart Levy and his colleagues reported the findings of a study, in 1976, showing how antibiotics used in animal feed lead to the spread of drug-resistant microbes. Levy, who spent his entire career at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA, USA, as a physician and researcher, urged the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to ban such use of antibiotics. The FDA initially agreed, triggering a fierce reaction from the US agriculture and pharmaceutical industries that refused to accept the findings. The ban was only introduced in 2017, something Levy had long called for. - https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(19)32273-1/fulltext
I'm re-reading
#DavidQuammen's #TangledTreeOfLife and wondering how I forgot so many important things from the first reading a few years ago.
