Wall reliefs from Skandia Cinema in Stockholm. The cinema is one of the #SwedishGrace landmarks by Gunnar Asplund.
This is one of my favourite streets in Stockholm, called Quiet Street (Tysta gatan). It´s so very pittoresque. This particular neighbourhood of Stockholm and specially Tysta gatan exemplifies #SwedishGrace architecture, a style in architecture and design sometimes referred to as Swedish version of #artdeco. I have created "micro-museums" dedicated to this place at my platform (in the making) www.magnificenth.com.
Another picture from Stockholm Public Library, this time from the inside and just behind the main entrance door where there is a black, thin and stunning stucco relief. This is an architectural reference to classical style and the stucco work is representing motifs from Homer's Iliad. #Swedishgrace!
#Swedishgrace example in architecture and design, Stockholm Public Library by #GunnarAsplund. Build during a time when neo-classic movement swept across the Nordic countries, this library was opened in 1928 and to this date represents one of the most recognised public buildings in Stockholm. Will share some more pics of the interiors in the upcoming posts.
