@maikel I hate #subscriptions espechally when they don't have a reason to be subscriptions.

  • Doubly if they are forced-in as in non-subscribers get a dysfunctional product.

  • Triply if this could've been a one-time - purchase instead.

I can understand a #subscription when it inevitably incurs constant costs not reasonable or possible to be paid once in advance, like hosting (storage, compute, traffic) services (that ain't #SaaS just to prevent #SelfHosting!).

Few media outlets allow buying a digital issue or only a single article with convenient payment methods like #SMS...

Personally, I think the only valid resolution is to let said #paywalled, #SubscriptionOnly media die by non-purchase just like any #subscription-only system...

Serious question… why is buying a particular issue of a digital magazine or newspaper not a thing? Like if I wanted to read just one particular article in paper form I could go to the store and buy only that one issue. But online I have to either deal with a paywall or sign up for a full subscription? Why??

compared to the #9EuroTicket which you could just buy with cash on a vending machine and only had to write your name on to make it valid [since it's not transferable] the #49EuroTicket is a massive #downgrade that is #SubscriptionOnly and does shitty #CreditCheck bs.

BOTH are only done to enshure those that would benefit from it can't get it - like poor people with trash #CreditScore|s and kids that ain't eligible for #SchoolBus #ticket schemes.

The fact that Germany #downgraded the #9EuroTicket that one could just get at any ticket sale machine and shop to a #SubscriptionOnly successor is the main problem, not that it's cost rose to be a #49EuroTicket!

OFC that won't help those that live in villages with no #PiblicTranspoet whatsoever!
