BBC’s Race Across the World wants more Welsh duos as new series opens — after Carmarthenshire couple stole the nation’s hearts
Studio Lambert, the production company behind the BAFTA‑winning show, confirmed to Swansea Bay News that applications are now open for the new series and said they are “actively looking” for people from Wales to take part.
Safaa Nait‑Charif, Assistant Producer at Studio Lambert, said:
“We had huge success with Finn and Sioned, our series 5 contestants from Carmarthenshire, and it would be brilliant to feature some Welsh contestants again.”
The new series will once again see pairs racing thousands of miles across continents on a shoestring budget — no smartphones, no flights, no luxury shortcuts. Contestants must navigate unfamiliar cities, barter for transport, sleep wherever they can, and out‑think rival teams.
But the show’s emotional pull is what keeps millions glued to BBC One. And Welsh viewers saw that first‑hand last season when Finn and Sioned from Nantgaredig near Carmarthen took on the challenge.

The young couple’s journey — from the highs of crossing remote mountain passes to the lows of exhaustion, culture shock and tough decisions — struck a chord with audiences across the UK. Their warmth, humour and resilience made them one of the standout teams of the series.
Studio Lambert told Swansea Bay News they want more stories like that.
A Studio Lambert spokesperson said:
“We’re looking for duos who want to share a life‑changing journey together — whether that’s family members, best friends, partners or people reconnecting after time apart. Many contestants apply because they want to change something in their life or explore a part of the world that means something to them.”
The production team says the experience offers the chance to see “some of the world’s most beautiful and varied locations”, learn local customs and traditions, and discover what people are capable of when stripped of modern comforts.
Applications are open until 29 March 2026 and duos must be aged 18 or over.
Anyone thinking of applying is encouraged to act quickly — and prepare for the adventure of a lifetime.
