Yesterday we took the Kitsap Transit fast ferry across the water to see my family near Southworth and celebrate my mom’s birthday. It’s pretty convenient to take a bus downtown, walk down the hill, and zip across the water!
Our ride was the M/V Solano. With transfers it’s not really any faster than the 90 minute or so drive around to the peninsula but it’s definitely more chill than I-5 and 16.
Returning to the Seattle skyline featuring the Space Needle and Norwegian BlissWe’ve previously done the Fauntleroy-Southworth Washington State Ferry several times but that’s a little less convenient getting through West Seattle and costs more. My work ORCA pass happens to cover the fast ferry, and kids ride free.
One small downside is that the Southworth Ferry Terminal doesn’t yet have a separate slip for the fast ferry, so we had to wait for the big ferry to unload and pulled in a bit late.
On our way back we saw a bald eagle perched on the dock.
I always enjoy little bits of our transit infrastructure at work so here’s the M/V Kitsap pulling out of the Southworth Ferry Terminal.
