The South African government has formally backed a bid to bring Formula 1 back to the country, marking a key step for the Kyalami circuit.
South Africa has moved a step closer to returning to the Formula 1 calendar after the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit announced the FIA had approved plans to bring it up to F1 standards with Grade 1 upgrades.
