Siraya was the first Formosan language to be written down. Dutch documentation 400 years ago played a vital role in their language revitalisation project. There are now Siraya-speaking children again.

It was a total delight to hang out with #language activists Edgar Macapili and Uma Talavan yesterday, talking about the revival of the #Siraya language. I've spent the morning transcribing all 6000 words of our interview, which was something like 45% in English, 45% in Mandarin, 7% in Taiwanese and 3% in Siraya.
