It's #HipHopCelebrationDay, and who better to pay tribute to it's #Funkadelic roots than the sorely-missed #ShockG? RIP Humpy Hump

The prompt is Gang

“We’re All In The Same Gang” from the album of the same name, 1990

By the late 80’s, gang violence was reaching a peak in and around #LosAngeles. On the east coast, KRS-One had launched the Stop the Violence campaign and put together an all-star roster of #HipHop artists to release the anti-violence track “Self Destruction” in response to violence at #rap concerts; now a group of #LA rappers calling themselves The West Coast Rap All-Stars responded to a societal problem around them in the same spirit. Crafted around a killer (reportedly #JamesBrown) funk riff, “We’re All In The Same Gang” weaves together enough samples to stand as a creation of its own. Corny? Maybe. Sincere? I’d like to think so - but it had an undeniable groove, and what a showcase of all the West Coast rappers this kid had heard of, and a few I hadn’t.
