Today is Sham Al Nassim, an Egyptian national holiday for the beginning of spring. It's a public holiday and celebrated by virtually all Egyptians, regardless of religion or ethnicity.
I learnt about this holiday during my Arabic classes and I have ever since thought it sounded very lovely. Commonly people spend the day having a picnic in a park, or on a boat on the Nile. It's also the day you're supposed to switch your clothes around in the closet, from winter outfits to summer outfits. Official staff all around the country change from long sleeved shirts to short sleeves.
I was on a boat on the Nile today. 💯
