Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) has confirmed that he met today with #WrongfullyDeported man #KilmarAbregoGarcia in #ElSalvador. The two shared a meal, and the Senator was able to relay messages to and from Abrego Garcia's wife.
Van Hollen had earlier announced he was heading to El Salvador to meet with Abrego Garcia. Initially, the Senator attempted to visit Abrego Garcia in the prison, but was turned away. Thursday afternoon, he posted photos of himself and Mr. #AbregoGarcia with the text:
"I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight, I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return."

Maryland Senator meets with Kilmar Abrego Garcia in El Salvador
Maryland Sen. Chris Van Hollen has met in El Salvador with Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a man who was sent there by the Trump administration in March despite an immigration court order preventing his deportation. Van Hollen posted a photo of the meeting Thursday on X, saying he also called Abrego Garcia’s wife “to pass along his message of love.” The lawmaker did not provide an update on the status of Abrego Garcia, whose attorneys are fighting to force the Trump administration to facilitate his return to the U.S.
Beth PHave to admit I'm surprised that #kilmarabregogarcia is purportedly alive, and I'm having trouble trusting the news that #senvanhollen was able to meet with him. I want it to be real and have no specific reason to doubt it, except my general mistrust of all the mofos on the other side of this and the lengths to which they'll demonstrably go to protect this whole wretched scheme of theirs...
