I'm listening to a history of #Prussia and didn't realize how impossible their diplomatic situation was in 1805-6. They were simultaneously in alliance with Russia and France, who were basically at war at the time!

I suppose this is just a very intense version of the standard Central European #securitydilemma, but still. Really helps in understanding how they'd make the series of mistakes leading up to the trouncing at Jena/Auerstadt--the path to #peace was nearly impossibly narrow. #history
