The public service mission of the Postal Service has made it one of our nation’s most trusted institutions. However, this essential service is under threat if we do not act now. The American people deserve a Postal Service that remains true to its public mission and continues to serve communities across the country. Add your voice and tell your congressmen, “Hands Off the Public Postal Service!”
Donald Trump and his greedy billionaire buddies on Wall Street are once again trying to privatize the United States Postal Service. Their goal is simple: break it apart, and sell it off for its parts to the highest corporate bidder that has zero interest in continuing to serve every ZIP code. Now, we have a real opportunity to have Congress take a stand and vow to stop Trump’s USPS privatization plan and save the people’s post office. Almost 200 members of Congress have already co-sponsored bipartisan resolutions that would draw a clear line in the sand that Congress intends to take every measure to ensure the Postal Service remains an independent public institution. H.Res.70 and S.Res.147 reaffirm the founding principle that the USPS exists to serve the people, not greedy corporate billionaires. These resolutions are proof that protecting our public post office is a bipartisan concern, with support from Democrats and Republicans alike. From Republican Rep. Don Bacon and Sen. Thom Tillis, to Democratic Sen. Maggie Hassan and Rep. Gerry Connolly, lawmakers across deep red and blue districts are rejecting privatization. Leaders in both political parties know exactly who it would hurt: rural families, veterans, seniors, postal workers, Black-owned small businesses, Indigenous communities, and many more. The loss of the people’s post office and the public services it provides to folks across the country would be devastating. The Postal Service is a constitutional promise, a critical part of our public infrastructure, our economy, and one of the most beloved and trusted public institutions in American life. It delivers to over 168 million addresses every single day, and employs more than 630,000 people in a postal workforce where nearly 30% are Black, and over 40% are women. Trump and his billionaire cronies tried dismantling the post office for their own profit before. And we stopped them. But now they’re back with an even more aggressive plan. We can’t stay silent, Congress must hear from us that we will not allow a hostile takeover of the people’s post office to succeed. The damage will be irreversible. Congress must act before it’s too late. This is our chance to once again show Wall Street our broad, bipartisan support for the defense of the Postal Service from being gutted for corporate gain. Save the USPS! Click ‘START WRITING’ to sign and send a message urging your members of Congress to co-sponsor and pass bipartisan H.Res.70 and S.Res.147 to stop Trump's privatization plan now.

I don't know how many people understand that the US Post Office is threatened with privatization thanks to Musk and his acolyte in the Whitehouse. That's just going to drive up costs and reduce service.
The U.S. Postal Service is again under attack by Donald Trump and the world's biggest business con, Elon Musk. Trump’s plans to overhaul the post office and privatize it would be disastrous for people across the country—especially the 50 million residences in rural areas for which it will simply not be as profitable to ensure reliable, timely delivery. In fact, it could effectively end rural postal service, and dramatically raise costs for everyone else. It’s not just the essentials that...
Donald Trump is attempting an illegal takeover of the United States Postal Service by firing the entire Postal Board of Governors and placing the USPS directly under the control of billionaire Trump donor Howard Lutnick, recently sworn in as Secretary of Commerce. Trump described it as a “type of merger.” But here’s the truth, the Postal Service is not a private business and it doesn’t belong to Trump or the White House, it belongs to the American people. This move is unconstitutional and blatantly illegal. In 1970, Congress passed the Postal Reorganization Act, explicitly removing the Postal Service from presidential control. They established the USPS as an independent, self-funded public agency. Trump's executive order would blatantly violate the law and undermine the separation of powers essential to our democracy. The Postal Board of Governors must reject this unlawful attempt by refusing Trump's firing order, and stay on the job to fight back. If Trump is successful, postal workers, seniors, and rural Americans will bear the brunt of the devastating consequences. Over 640,000 dedicated postal employees, including 73,000 veterans, will see their livelihoods jeopardized. Rural communities risk losing guaranteed delivery of medication, Social Security checks, ballots, and other essential mail. Trump's illegal plan would pave the way for a possible privatization of our public postal system by chopping up USPS, selling off its parts, and putting profit margins over public service. This isn't the first time we've faced such a threat. We've stopped Trump before, from privatization efforts in 2018 to attempted sabotage before the 2020 elections. Together with our diverse coalition of labor unions, veterans, voting rights advocates, civil rights groups, and grassroots activists across the nation, we've protected our Postal Service and we can and will do it again. Now we must stop Trump's unconstitutional power grab and keep the Postal Service in public hands, where it belongs. Click ‘START WRITING’ to sign and send a direct message to the Postal Board of Governors to refuse Trump's illegal order, stand strong, stay on the job, and save the Post Office from Donald Trump.
Donald Trump is attempting an illegal power grab at the United States Postal Service, blatantly ignoring the law in order to seize control. He has announced plans to fire the entire independent Postal Board of Governors and place the USPS under the direct control of billionaire Trump donor Howard Lutnick, who is now serving as Secretary of Commerce. Trump himself described this unprecedented arrangement as a “type of merger” – but that is complete bunk! The Postal Service is not a business to be “merged,” and it does not answer to the White House. It is a public institution that belongs to the American people, not to Trump. This move is not only unconstitutional – it is blatantly illegal. In 1970, Congress specifically removed the Postal Service from presidential control when it passed the Postal Reorganization Act. This law created the USPS Board of Governors as an independent body. For Trump to ignore this law altogether and treat the Postal Service as if it were his to command however he likes is no accident. Intending to set a precedent, Trump is intentionally ignoring the law in order to prove the law is of no significance to him. At this point in his return to power, fully immunized from criminal liability by the Supreme Court for his “official actions,” he has come to see himself as the law.
