🌱 JULY SAGE RECAP 🌱
What a special and meaningful evening this month’s SAGE was! With just a few more SAGE gatherings left at The Joinery, it felt so important coming together around our theme of “Solidarity Against Precarity,” as we imagined a future beyond this current uncertainty. 💚
🏡 Our double-headline session featured Gilbert (@goblin), Lilly (@lillymaythomas), Dylan (@dylandrakos), and Ember (@bounding_star) from a coalition of grassroots groups (@sage_southaus, @saveourspaces_sa, @rewind). Together we discussed the precarious future faced by many Adelaide community spaces, reflected on what we cherish about them, and imagined a utopian community-owned building through storytelling, performance, and lively small group discussions.
🌊 Mads (@mads) and Fletcher (@fletchrrr) from #RisingTide Tarni Tarnanthi screened “Turning the Ship,” a documentary capturing the energy of last year’s People’s Blockade of Newcastle’s coal port. Attendees were invited to join the upcoming 2025 blockade in November and local events leading up to it! 🚢✊
🔓 Tabitha and Tess (@Tessa) hosted an impactful workshop titled “Kids in Community,” exploring responses to the #SAGovernment's punitive new youth bail and sentencing laws. Attendees got resources and support to craft submissions and signed up for a follow-up info session. 📝
⛑️ We also had a thoughtful discussion session titled “Resilience, Climate, and the S.E.S.” focusing on how local communities can build resilience in the face of climate emergencies and the critical role emergency services play.
🧭 Our brilliant SAGE gardeners Marissa (@rissareb), Mac, and Ned (@nedhalliday) ran our second “SAGE Triage,” connecting attendees with Adelaide’s incredible network of grassroots groups. People left excited and ready to jump in!
Huge gratitude as always to everyone who provided food, cleaned, chatted, and held space - our potluck was delicious, and your presence meant everything. 🍲💞
See you all at August SAGE on the 31st! 🌻✨

Outdoor enthusiasts want to see a mountain bike hub back on the cards at the former Belair golf course four years after a proposed master plan for the site was abandoned. The 51-hectare site adjacent to the Belair National Park closed as an 18-hole golf course in 2018 and is now used for disc golf and by joggers, mountain bikers and bushwalkers.A master plan for the site was turfed out by former environment minister David Speirs in 2021 after a proposal for soccer fields over 10 hectares was largely rejected by the community during consultation. An overhead photo shows the extent of
