Just back from (amongst other things) voting. Conversation between the polling clerks:

B: What's the name?

A (having checked the card & list): [family name]

B: No but what's the *name*.

A: [family name]

B: No, the other name.

A: What?

B: Well, I don't like using their surnames.

A: [personal (government) name]

B: Right [govt. name], these are your polling cards...

We had an election leaflet in the post today on which the front simply consisted of the text "ARE YOU DECENT?".

I'm not sure quite how to interpret that ... but either way, I'm not telling *you*. 😶
