Wooh! Thought this would be harder, but just a few hours of tinkering and reading and I've got access to the local emergency services communications, thanks to SDRTrunk.

I wasn't able to record the audio for some reason, but just being able to listen in on these communications could be useful in emergencies.

It seems I need a different program to record the audio.

#SDRTrunk

Well, I think I have #SDRTrunk setup to stream to #OpenMhz - it seems like it is working (mostly), I keep getting disconnected from the WiFi last night, so I switched to Ethernet. That appears to be working better.
I'm using this old AIO ThinkCentre I5 machine, I just need to find a place to put the computer that is out of the way. And probably a USB hub, and fan to help cool the SDR dongles...

I think I'll stick with #OP25 which works well on a really old netbook - and works with only one #SDR - Granted, I can only listen to one stream at a time, but really, it's kind of hard to listen to two conversations at the same time anyway.

Wanted to thank @k9swx for the video, and the introduction to sdr-trunk thou.

Thanks.!

Saw this video posted by Stan @k9swx - very good info about a app I wasn't aware of SDR-Trunk
Which can decode P25 and Some other digital modes (Thou I couldn't figure out if it will do P25 conventional or not, I think not).
I set it up without using radio reference, I didn't use any IDs so I just get Talkgroup numbers, not the best way, but it worked.

Pretty easy to setup, unfortunately for me, I need two SDRs to make it work correctly :-(
