Yesterday, the latest gravitational-wave candidate was observed.
S251021u originates (if real) from a coalescence of black holes at a (luminosity) distance of 19 billion light-years. If the black holes were of equal mass, each weighed between approximately 25 and 100 solar masses.

This brings the canddiate total to 245 since the start of the fourth joint observation run of the large gravitational-wave detectors in May 2023.
The observation run will continue until 18 November 2025 at 16:00 UTC. After that, all detectors will remain offline for upgrades at least until mid-2026.
