RuebenI crewed for a boat in the 2026 Round Bowen Race yesterday. This years course was counter-clockwise.
We had a great day of sailing, but did not finish. After a light wind start, we had 15kts of wind on the north side of Bowen. But there was a patch with no wind on the southwest side. We finally made it to the south side for a nice downwind sail. But after rounding the southeast corner we saw most of the fleet stalled again.
Only 13 boats finished before the cutoff time, 41 retired from racing, and an unreported number (50+) did not finish (DNF).
