"Circus on parade", performed by Doris Day and Jimmy Durante.

It's from the 60s film "Billy Rose's Jumbo", itself based on the 30s Rodgers and Hart musical "Jumbo". The story of a travelling circus, which showed its talent and its animals by marching down Main Street.

The film was panned by the critics, who said there were only two good things in the movie - the music, and the elephant.

Words and Music: A Terrible Celebration of Rodgers and Hart - Solzy at the Movies

Words and Music is an Arthur Freed-produced Technicolor musical celebration of the legendary team of Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart.

Solzy at the Movies

Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart worked together to provide topical satire songs in a 1925 Broadway revue show, updating the act with new songs as fashions change and news happens.

"Mountain greenery" appeared in the 1926 revision, showcasing Hart's knack of squeezing in unlikely words (he rhymes 'sequestering' with 'pestering').

Brought home a few classic albums from my Dad's collection, including the first two Ella Fitzgerald "songbook" double-LPs, of which this is the 2nd.

Deservedly classic status…still amazes me how well a nearly 70-year-old record holds up.

These records were incredibly popular and are readily found in used bins for short money…but having Dad's personal copy is kinda priceless.
