@davidaugust @donhawkins Like the British, Austrian German and Turkish people of their respective Empires were people for better or worse? I have hope that the American people being as diverse as they are can change course; dying cats don’t bounce and Empires are rapidly reaching their unsustainable limits. The non renewable control of resources to benefit a shrinking few oligarchs, plutocrats, greedy investors and authoritarian clowns has no future. #EndOfEthnoEmpires #RiseOfTheFederation
Finished #RiseOfTheFederation. I quite liked it, overall.
Trip's plan was as poorly thought out and haphazard in-universe as I thought it was from the beginning. And in a thematically relevant way.
#StarTrekEnterprise
Trip's being over-eager. You can't bring down a shady black-opps organization by entrapping them. You've got to wait for them to make a move, then set them up to be exposed. Don't force it, or you risk tippin them off.

#RiseOfThefederation
Trip's early plans for bringing down Harris and Section 31 have so far amounted to entrapment, and planting evidence. And he'd be lucky if Harris isn't on to him. This isn't going well.

This book was published in 2015, so it would have been written around 2013-2014. You would think it prophetic, if you lacked any basic pattern recognition.

I haven't forgotten about Chapter 6. I'm still mulling it over. I might have some commentary on it. I might not. Maybe depending on how the rest of the book goes.

I really hope I'm right about this. It would be really cool if canon were to pick up a thread from the novels like this and run with it.

More #StrangeNewWorlds Parallels:
Akomo talks about how Ware tech might help sufferers of lock-in syndrome resulting from exposure to delta radiation.

Alora tells Pike that Majalan tech might be able to help him after his accident.
I'm not saying that Majalan is a Ware infested world. But look, all the signs are there.
The Ware infestation of Vanot is a clear commentary on real life. Politicians in the pocket of industry. Living brains, enslaved to a machine. A once compassionate culture now blinded to suffering of others by the convenience of technology

The way the Ware technology wreaks havoc on the Kyraw and other worlds in #RiseOfThefederation brings to mind the Majalan machines in #StrangeNewWorlds.
