To be fair, they sank a lot of money into research, and to do it so fast (in such desperate circumstances) that they actually came out with the vaccine at the same time as the Pfizer-Biontech duo.
To compare the cost of production of vaccines like that would be as invalid as saying that Cory Doctorow should sell his books for a dollar each, because it takes only pennies to produce a PDF copy of his book to sell.
