ICE officer kills a Minneapolis woman during the latest immigration crackdown

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer has shot and killed a Minneapolis driver during the Trump administration’s latest immigration crackdown on a major American city. Federal officials called the 37-year-old woman's killing Wednesday an act of self-defense. But Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey dismissed that characterization as “garbage,” saying he had watched videos of the shooting that show it wasn't self-defense and was avoidable. Hundreds of people descended on the scene to protest the shooting, which happened in a snowy neighborhood about a mile from where police killed George Floyd in 2020.

The blatant Stalinist PC education purge of accurate history and social science marches on here in GA! Our state is run by overt fascists. It kills me that some of the same people accusing activists taking down Confederate statues of "erasing history" are **literally banning the teaching of history**.

Georgia superintendent says Black studies course breaks law against divisive racial teachings

Georgia’s state superintendent of schools says he believes a new Advanced Placement course in African American Studies violates the state’s law against teaching divisive racial concepts. Richard Woods, the elected superintendent, says in a Wednesday statement that is why he won’t recommend it become an approved state course. Woods hadn't explained his reasoning until now. Some districts say they will teach the course anyway, but others are canceling their plans. Georgia passed its ban on divisive racial concepts in schools in 2022. Woods’ claim contradicts a specific exemption in Georgia law for Advanced Placement and other high-level courses. Woods says he is seeking a legal opinion that could guide his actions.
