Re-reading (kinda) "Release that witch": The Light novel from the start.
Originally I only read it starting from the chapter where the manhua left off, but now I'm reading everything 😁
After finishing the web novel translation, I can say it was very much worth the read.
While some characters are one dimensional (e.g. the villains) and the hero is 100% flawless (and to a certain point boring in his perfection), the story has good character development and plot twists to keep me hooked till the very end. Be warned: It's 1500 chapters so take your time.
It could be perfected but the story is already long without adding more drama, it's a must read for military genre fans. If you liked Starship Troopers or StarCraft, you're gonna love this novel (although the military part comes much later in the novel). If you like manga, you'll enjoy the manhua edition which features cool designs and cute, adorable characters with a teaspoon of humor.
Rated 4.5 / 5, would read again.
Reading the novel "Release that witch".
Suddenly the whole thing morphed from an Isekai Dr. Stone crossover into some sort of Starcraft novelization featuring Eldritch abominations.
The writer did awesome work portraying the monsters and how they got creepier and creepier as the story advanced.
Now it's turned into a full-blown war with military tactics.
As I'm reading how the soldiers upgrade their weapons, I'm playing the Starcraft Soundtrack 
And now we get the POV from a young recruit in King Roland's new Air Force, starting with dizziness and color-blindness tests. I can't wait to read more! 
Fighting demons, first with gunpowder bombs, then with guns, then gattling guns, and now with 20mm cannons.
This story keeps giving me "humanity fuck yeah" vibes 😅
It's just awesome because the changes in industrialization are not immediate. Each single new invention was preceded by the arrival of a new witch, or the evolution of a witch's power, and the design and construction of at least one prototype.
It's like one of those civilization-building videogames, where you obtain a resource and can upgrade your weapons little by little.
And now we have a steam engine.
This story never disappoints me.
