Oh no! The 1954 aerial imagery on https://krak.dk/ is broken. I hope this is temporary otherwise adding the remainder of Denmark to the #RailwayHistoryMap will be a pain. I pretty much only have closed down lines left.

#RailwayHistoryMap update 2026-03-22 with fixes for things reported since January. Mostly in Germany, with some changes in Poland and Austria. Thanks to @jfb_212 and @HaTetsu for the reports!

If you find things that are wrong in your part of the world, I would love to get a report here, per email, or directly on Github.

Release notes: https://github.com/railwayhistory/map/releases/tag/v2026-03-22

I have renovated the symbols for the various operational points in the detailed #RailwayHistoryMap. Since Germany seems to have the most variety, I used it as a baseline for what’s needed.

I’m reasonably happy with this set – but we’ll have to see how well it works in practice.

Apologies if all the abbreviations mean nothing to you. I will have to make a proper legend for the map one of these days.

Happy new timetable! This year’s two largest changes (I know of) are now on the #RailwayHistoryMap: Koralmbahn in southern Austria and Dresdner Bahn in Berlin.

#RailwayHistoryMap Update Day \o/

Added the Danish islands of Funen and Langeland.

Funen used to have a surprisingly comprehensive railway network – real railway lines, too, not slow light railways – of which almost nothing is left now.

Instead of what I should be doing (editing video), I did some cleaning up on the #RailwayHistoryMap and now you can look at the details for the somewhat complicated situation along the border south of Görlitz.

Published quite a few corrections for the #RailwayHistoryMap: https://github.com/railwayhistory/map/blob/main/Changelog.md#2025-11-15

If you find more mistakes (or recent changes), I’d love to hear about them. Issues on Github are ideal, but DMs or mentions here work equally well.

Second part of Denmark added to the #RailwayHistoryMap: the islands of Falster and Lolland.

The first part of Denmark – the island of Sjælland – has arrived on the #RailwayHistoryMap. It is the first part that comes with the improved higher detail level. You have to select the “details” layer in the layers menu to be allowed to zoom in that far.

It only took nine months but Sweden is now complete on the #RailwayHistoryMap!
