After the Nazi death camps and the Soviet gulag, it should be harder to credit the naive progressive belief that the modern age represented a long march toward ever-greater enlightenment and peace, or that humanity was capable of relying for salvation on its own capacities alone.
But here we are and that lesson seems way forgotten.
I hope we are not doomed to have the same "journey" again just and only to reach the same conclusion.
