Just a random Cutty sketch
A sketch of Cutty clinging onto a control console (based on an infamous shot in Doctor Who's The Mind Robber)

The entire first episode is possibly the weirdest trippy minimalist episodes of Doctor Who, due to it not having a writer. There were production problems with the previous serial, causing an entire episode to be cut. They had to make up for it with an additional episode in The Mind Robber, and ... well ... this is what they came up with. Furthermore, the actor who plays Jamie got sick during production of The Mind Robber, so they devised a plot reason for a different actor to fill in for him.
At this time, they didn't shoot episodes far in advance, so it was all in order with barely any margin before air time.

Moon/Mars/etc Lander
Cutty uses "barrel" shaped landers, that flop over on their side so they can be rolled around manually in low gravity. The barrel shape makes it possible to rock the lander using upward venting thrusts, to raise the nose before starting the main launch burn.
The main engines are in the nose, pointed 30 degrees off vertical. This mitigates regolith kick-up, and helps ensure regolith is blown away from the lander.

Very Low Gravity Space Hammock
Cutty's ship spins for low gravity, only a few percent of Earth's (similar to Charon).
Hammocks are suspended vertically. Hanging from a shoulder helps keep one properly positioned. It's also possible to hang from one's chin to place both arms inside the hammock.
Hammocks are open on one side, and the top, making it easy to slip in/out. The suspension lines gently keep the open side mostly closed.

It's a coffeeshop AU, except out in deep space I guess.
I've long struggled to actually come up with a compelling "story" for Postcards from Cutty, and really it's because PFC isn't a story idea in my head, it's a setting I'd like to just live and breathe in. Nothing really needs to "happen" in it for me to find it interesting and desirable.

Nothing really needs to "happen" in it for me to find it interesting and desirable. I mean, there are lots of stories about a lone space traveler or worker stuck in the middle of nowhere. Most of them have a theme of loneliness, but that's not where I'm coming from mentally with PFC. I actually like the idea of going off into the middle of nowhere. Like, there's the example of Beatriz Flamini who spent 500 days in a cave and she was fine. Of course, she knew it was for a limited time, but still ... am I just weird for thinking living alone without the typical stresses would be nice? So, coffee shop AU is a simple low stress AU where nothing much "happens". It's a fun way to take characters you...
I'm not entirely sure. the tanks surround a former Ariane 6 upper stage of two tanks ... roughly 5.4m diameter by 8m tall... the tanks are 5-10m thick around that.
Cutty's bedroom is the oxygen tank, roughly the size and shape of Jeannie's bottle set. Everything else scales from there.
The magloop may be 100m in diameter ... maybe 200m. I'm not sure.
